The downtown area of Des Moines is very walkable, even in stormy weather, due to the extensive skywalk system.
If you want to get some exercise and explore beyond downtown, we recommend that you go by bike! There are some great trails in the area and a big biking community. Bicycles can be rented BCycle stations around the city and from Gray's Lake Park. Dockless bikes may also be coming soon!
